Review by Ethan Galvin, Senior Reference Librarian — performance at West Caldwell Public Library in 2016
Thank you for your delightful and entertaining concert “Mostly Motown.” It was such a pleasure having you and the Silver Fox Songs Trio back again to celebrate Black History Month. The music was very lively and uplifting and inspired audience members and myself to swing with the music and sing-along to the familiar Motown hits. I especially enjoyed your renditions of “Chain, Chain, Chain” by Aretha Franklin, “Walk on By” by Dionne Warwick, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” – one of my favorites by Roberta Flack (whom I saw live), and of course your haunting rendition of “At Last” by Etta James. Learning interesting anecdotes about some of the singers was also fascinating and very educational. Please extend my thanks to the members of the Silver Fox Songs Trio, especially the keyboardist Michael who was quite impressive. Thanks again for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of Motown music.
